Headquartered in Ranchi, Jharkhand, CMPDI is a Schedule-B Public Sector Undertaking and was granted Mini Ratna Category I status in June 2019. The company provides comprehensive consultancy services including mineral exploration, mine planning, infrastructure design, environmental management, and system implementation mainly for coal and mineral industries. It also functions as a nodal agency for research and development and strategic initiatives for the Ministry of Coal, supporting policy coordination and sector development. CMPDI operates through seven regional institutes along with several exploration camps and field units across India, enabling nationwide project execution, and holds ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and ISO 37001 certifications reflecting strong standards in quality management, information security, and anti-bribery practices.
